Reviews of VaBang!

The best crafted choreography from two young choreographers that I can ever remember seeing. I could see a brain at work. Each piece was distinctively different. Each had its own movement selection.”

~ Ray Cook, NY-based restager of masterpieces by Sokolow, Limon, Tudor, Balanchine, Horton and Humphrey

On VaBang! returning to Vassar College for a special, alumni performance:

“Having alumni dancers come is certainly a resource for current students, but even more than that an example. They show how to make it in the dance world. They show, especially Jessie with her time at the London School of Economics, that there is more than one way to live a life.

~ Jeanne Czula, former Chair of Vassar College Dance Department and current Professor of Dance.

“I just caught my first VaBang! concert, and I’m both elated and stunned.  It was an experience like no other!  The dancers turned the performing space into a launch pad, a space-and-time machine, and a playground.  Their movements and interactions were tender, powerful, joyful and — on many occasions — seemingly impossible, given the laws of physics and the supposed limits of the human body.  They made the audience gasp, weep, laugh, and (for one piece) even collaborate with them.  It is only a matter of time before the young women of VaBang! conquer the world, and I, for one, cannot wait to welcome our new, kinetic overlords.
